Meet Dominic

I was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six and raised by a single mother. My mother was a civilian accountant in the defense department and due to base closings my family was relocated to Dayton, Ohio when I was in junior high. Public school educated, I attended and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a dual major in history and political science where I received honors. During my senior year in college I happened to land a job as an intern in the Cincinnati mayor’s office where I got my first glimpse into public service. It was then that I decided to pursue a career serving the constituents of Ohio.

After college I was able to secure a job in the 127th General Assembly with State Representative Jay Goyal as a legislative aide. During the 128th General Assembly, I was promoted to policy analyst and was assigned the House Committees of Civil and Commercial Law, Environment and Brownfield, Ways and Means, and the Finance Subcommittee of Primary Education. At the same time I also acted as special assistant to the then chief-of-staff.  Since the 129th General Assembly I have had the pleasure of working for State Representative Barbara Boyd where I continue to work. While not currently a policy analyst, I have the privilege to continue help staffing the Finance Subcommittee on Primary Education with our policy analysts. The state legislature taught me two very important lessons, the importance of competent budgeting and the importance of bi-partisanship. Aside from the state legislature, I also keep busy in the community volunteering for various institutions. For almost two years, I have been a member of the Columbus City Schools Board of Education External Monitoring Committee. The External Monitoring Committee’s main responsibility is to write reports on the parliamentary procedure and professionalism of the individual school board meetings. I also clerk for the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission’s committee on Constitutional Revisions and Organization and Administration. The role of the Ohio Constitutional Commission is to make recommendations into modernizing Ohio’s Constitution for the 21st century. I am a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church and I am getting married to my wonderful fiancé in June, 2014.
